Implementation of technical solutions from the contract "Process technical systems for the voltage and reactive power regulation support of the EES and dynamic monitoring of the transmission lines load within the SINCRO.GRID project" will allow using advanced process technical systems and algorithms to manage power flows in a way to improve voltage quality in the power system and increase the capacity of existing lines. Additionally, it will ensure a better integration of renewable energy sources into the power system and increase the security of customer supply.
The value of the contract amounts 2.827.372 Euro and the duration of execution shall not exceed 28 months. Signing of the contract is the final part of the preparation, followed by the implementation of the SINCRO.GRID project. The contract was signed by Mario Gudelj, President of the Management Board of HOPS and Goran Leci, President of KONČAR-KET Managing Board.
Recall that the SINCRO.GRID advanced project was created by the long-term cooperation of Croatian and Slovenian transmission and distribution system operators (ELES, HOPS, HEP-ODS, SODO). The project's objective is to address the challenges of the power system management and eliminating congestion in the power grid. Additionally, project will enable an acceptable level of EES security and ensure the conditions for the acceptance of new RES.
The project received the status of the PCI project and has evaluated as the most innovative project. On the 17th February 2017, the European Commission announced that the project proposal was eligible for co-financing in the total requested amount of 40.5 million Euro (51% of the overall investment). A Grant Agreement for the SINCRO.GRID project was signed in Brussels on May 22nd 2017 between INEA and ELES as a project coordinator (on behalf of all promoters, the Grant Agreement under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) - Energy Sector Agreement No. INEA / CEF / ENER / M2016 / 1289177 „with INEA).
The finish date of the project is planned by the end of 2021.
