Until now, we have mounted 18 steel structures for innovative weather stations at transmission towers in the Slovenian electricity transmission grid. This week we plan to mount two more. In parallel with the fieldwork, the team is intensively preparing for testing the equipment in the laboratory of the Slovenian Environment Agency.
Owing to its knowledge of weather conditions and advanced physical modelling, SUMO enables better utilisation of existing transmission lines and transformers. A particularity of the system is a module for the calculation of minimum load for the purpose of preventing the icing of overhead transmission lines.
