On September 30th 2020 for the first time HOPS dispatchers and engineers ran Sincro.Grid Q-U system (Volt Var Control function in ABB Network Manager 10.2.4. system integrated by Končar KET) in full automatic closed loop from 09:00 until 13:00 o’clock, without any human intervention optimizing transmission system network of North West part of Croatia. All calculated VVC controls were sent automatically by the Q-U system to seven transformers in three substations. After successfully testing in full automatic mode, testing continued in semi-automatic mode with transformers and two generators in one power plant. The collected data and experience will be used for additional analysis of the Q-U system and its replication to the entire part of the Croatian transmission network.
This successful event is a step forward to the implementation of the joint ELES and HOPS Virtual Cross Border Control Center in the SINCRO.GRID project.
