On Thursday, November 12, an important milestone was reached with the installation of the last of the 31 weather stations (MAS) on the DTR (SUMO) project. Borut Vertačnik, who led the construction of the external part of SUMO, said: “I am glad that things went well and the last MAS is installed today - before winter and bad weather. The project was demanding because a low-consumption communication unit was developed specifically for SUMO, which will enable the survival of MAS during periods of low solar radiation. But with development, we know how it is. It takes your time, and most of all, perseverance to get the job done to the end. The measuring and processing concept was adopted from national met office ARSO's BOBER system, which is very complex, but the benefits it brings are already being harvested."

31 weather stations are installed on category I. power lines, and their main purpose is to reduce the uncertainty of the results of SUMO, which otherwise operates on the basis of processed model mesoscale weather data.
