As part of the SINCRO.GRID project, an optimal combination of various high-tech advanced devices for reactive power compensation and voltage regulation, was installed in the Slovenian and Croatian power systems. The last of the devices, the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), was installed in the Beričevo substation in Slovenia.
At the end of April, testing of the device began. STATCOM was energised and charged at full power in the capacitive and inductive range of +-150 Mvar. The test will be carried on till mid-May when STATCOM will be ready for operation.
